This application form invites you to join either as an individual or as a Company or Organisation.
Membership of the Defence Innovation Group is not limited to any UK geographical area, nor is it limited to the defence industry. Indeed we will welcome overseas members if they feel that this is appropriate to their requirements (subject to the normal commercial and national regulations concerning technology transfer, etc).
If you or your Company are involved in providing innovative solutions that are designed to be "useful" and fulfil a need or requirement, we want you to consider membership. This is not to say that the DIG will be ultra-selective, but we are not aiming to become an "Inventor's Club" nor are we to become a business network organisation whose members constantly look out for opportunities to sell their own services.
The way in which the DIG will operate is to highlight and promote innovation for a wide range of industrial and commercial sectors and to become the "first-stop for solution" from those who are actively looking for help.
We will do this by first of all promoting the DIG and its capabilities and aims. Then we will be passing any and all enquiries to our members who may then wish to approach the enquirer with their answer. Obviously, this may mean that there are two or more DIG members "competing" for the same business, but that's business! However, this also means that a DIG member can call on others in the Group for help - should it be required.
The DIG will not be involved in any commercial decisions or actions regarding members activities, nor asking for additional fees from its members (other than to support any events or workshops, etc it may decide to organise) therefore it will be up to the Members to ensure they are covered in respect of Confidentiality Agreements, IPR protection, etc. Of course, the DIG will offer any and all of its membership help and advice on aspects of developing and applying innovation, through its growing membership.
In short - the DIG is to be a "self-help" organisation, focusing attention on innovation and ensuring that this is rightly and effectively exploited. I hope you will join and become part of an exciting and unfolding story.
